Preparing your office for emergency situations

Please join us as we hear from the industry leaders about what steps they have taken to prepare their offices, work sites and commercial buildings for both disaster preparedness and disaster response. They will discuss best practices built from experience handling local disasters and the take us through the process from being prepared to getting back to business.

John Walters,

John has over 30 years of survival in commercial real estate. He began his career in retail real estate starting as a director of security and quickly progressing to becoming a general manager. He holds the CRRP, CRX, CSM and CMD designations through the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is a published author and an instructor for ICSC in the area of security. In 2011 he joined Highwoods Properties as the Director of Asset Management for the Triad Division. In this role he oversees the profitability and operations of the portfolio of office, medical office, and industrial buildings. He is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and is a certified Homeland Security Terrorism Trainer.

Keith has spent over 15 years working with the Department of Defense to build military installations all over the world ranging from top secret facilities to US embassy compounds. He’s had the privilege of meeting and working with American dignitaries to insure facility and worker safety in seven countries. Keith was awarded a General Antwerp coin for Safety Excellence and Engineering Control in 2009. He recently received WA chapter AGC Safety team recognition for over 500,000 MH without any OSHA recordables.

The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) is focused on recruiting new businesses to the state, supporting the needs of existing businesses, connecting exporters to global customers, helping small business owners get their start, and attracting tourists and visitors from all over the world.  Tracy represents the Central Region (Piedmont Triad), covering Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties.

Nancy B. Vaughan is the mayor of Greensboro in North Carolina. First elected in 2013, she won a new term in the general election on November 7, 2017. Before becoming mayor, Vaughan was a member of the Greensboro City Council, representing District 4 from 1997 to 2001 and serving at-large from 2009 to 2013.
